UK: popularity of selected members of the royal family 2022

As of the third quarter of 2022, Prince William had a popularity rating of 65 percent amongst adults in the United Kingdom, whilst his wife, Catherine, had a popularity rating of 66 percent. Overall, 38 percent of respondents said that they had a positive opinion of Prince Harry, whilst one-third felt the same way about Meghan, Harry's wife.

The UK and the U.S.: difference of opinion

Although Prince William was more popular than Harry in the United Kingdom, Harry found popularity amongst the U.S. population. As of the third quarter of 2022, almost half of all U.S. adults had a positive opinion of Prince Harry. In comparison, around 43 percent of U.S. adults thought fondly of William.

The most popular member of the royal family

Following Queen Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, a survey conducted in the U.S. found that more Americans favored the late Princess Diana than any other member of the Royal Family. Diana was viewed very favorably by 49 percent of respondents and somewhat favorably by 29 percent. Andrew, Duke of York, was the most disliked member of the royal family, with 28 percent of respondents having a very negative opinion of him.
