As of 2021, Libya had the highest reserves-to-production ratio of crude oil in Africa, at 340 years. South Sudan and Nigeria followed, each with 56 years. The reserves-to-production ratio gives an estimation of the number of years that operational crude oil fields will continue to be productive based on the production rates of 2021.
