In recent years, the number of homicides involving firearms has increased in Sweden. Breaking down the share of the fatal shootings by region, it becomes clear that the share of the shootings that occurred in the Capital Region Stockholm has increased sharply in recent years. Whereas 26 percent of the fatal shootings in 2018 happened in Stockholm, it was nealy half in 2022. On the other hand, the share of the shootings that happened in Region West stood at 10 percent in 2022.
