On December 28th, 2022, American-British media personality Andrew Tate directed a tweet at Swedish activist
Greta Thunberg, boasting a list of his car collection and respective emissions. Thunberg replied with a tweet that rocketed her post into being one of the most popular tweets of all time. In retaliation, Tate posted a video on YouTube on 29th December, shortly before his arrest by Romanian authorities. The social media battle resulted in an uptake in followers for both parties. As of January 1st, 2023, Thunberg amassed over 5.8 million followers on the microblogging platforms, whilst Tate had 4.5 million followers.
