In 2021, the number of suicides in the Netherlands stood at 1,861. This was an increase compared to the previous year, when 1,823 people committed suicide. The Netherlands experienced a considerable growth in the number of suicides between 2007 and 2013, after which the number fluctuated, including a peak in 2017 of 1,917 suicides.
