In 2021, the country with the highest share of crude oil production in the region of Eastern Africa was South Sudan, with had a production share of 66 percent. Sudan ranked second, accounting for 34 percent of the region's oil output. Furthermore, crude oil reserves in the region show a similar percentage distribution. South Sudan is estimated to produce 7.5 million metric tons of oil annually.
