Prince William: popularity in the U.S. Q3 2022, by generation

According to a survey conducted in the United States in the third quarter of 2022, Prince William was most popular with respondents belonging to the Baby Boomer generation. Overall, 97 percent of Baby Boomers were aware of the Prince of Wales, and 47 percent held a positive view of him. Additionally, 92 percent of Generation X and 89 percent of Millennials had heard of King Charles' son, William.

Favorability of British Royal Family members in the United States

As of September 2022, Diana, Princess of Wales, was by far the most favored member of the Royal family in the U.S., with almost 80 percent of Americans thinking fondly of her. Furthermore, Diana's son Prince Harry was also thought of very favorably by one quarter of U.S. adults.

The passing of Queen Elizabeth II

The past couple of years have been significant for the British royal family, after the passing of Prince Phillip in 2021 and the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022. According to a survey conducted shortly after the monarch's death, one-fifth of respondents in the United Kingdom said they were very upset by her passing, and one quarter reported to be fairly upset.
