In 2021, Zimbabwe had the largest growth in foreign exchange reserves among African countries, with a 2,519.9 percent growth compared to the previous year. South Sudan and Equatorial Guinea followed, recording a growth rate of around 442 percent and 397 percent, respectively.
In absolute terms, Libya was the country with the largest international reserves in Africa, reaching around 80 billion U.S. dollars in 2021.
