As of late 2024, there were 2,749 buildings in the United States with a platinum LEED certification, indicating that they were in the highest level of energy efficiency. Most buildings with a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certificate scored between 50 and 79 points. These figures are cumulative, which means that all buildings with a LEED certification are included, even if they were built several years ago.

The different levels of LEED certification are awarded depending on the score awarded to each building. Those at the platinum level are the most energy efficient, while buildings at the certified level are less energy efficient.
