Most buildings with a LEED certification in the United States were owned by the corporate and investor sector as of December 2022. The government at the state, local, and federal levels also had a significant share of the overall number of LEED-certified buildings in the country. These figures are cumulative, which means that all buildings with a LEED certification are included, even if they were built several years ago. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
