According to a survey conducted in 2023, 28 percent of the respondents in New Zealand indicated that protecting or defending in general comes to mind when they see the term national security. In contrast, five percent of the respondents indicated that threats to the economy such as financial/trade stability comes to mind when they see the term national security.
