In the financial year 2022, the priority sector accounted for around 59 percent of urban cooperative bank's credit in India. Priority sector lending (PSL) is an initiative whereby the banks are supposed to dedicate funds for specific sectors like MSMEs, education, housing, agriculture, and allied activities. The initiative provides accessible credit to weaker sections of society.
