In 2024, Argentina was the only country in the Americas that was actively planning the construction of new nuclear reactors. Only five North, Central, and South American countries were nuclear power producers during the period of consideration. Among them, the United States was the leader for nuclear energy production worldwide. The other countries with no active construction of new nuclear reactors were Mexico, Canada, and Brazil.
