Over 14 percent of official advertisement placements on Telegram in Russia promoted services, according to a study conducted in the third quarter of 2022. Finance, accounting, banking, and trading were the second most common category of sponsored ads placed by Telegram in commercial channels.

* Official advertising is defined by the source as being placed by Telegram itself in commercial channels with an audience of more than 1,000 people and marked as "sponsored." The message cannot contain visuals or over 160 characters, and links can only lead to the brand's channel. Non-official advertising, on the other hand, refers to an agreement with a blogger to make a post mentioning the advertised product and a link to it. The organization for such a publication go either directly through the administration of the channel or through an intermediary. Advertising design can include an image, video, and an unlimited amount of text.
