The official Christmas number one in the UK charts in 2022 was Food Aid by Ladbaby. British blogger, YouTuber, and social media personality Ladbaby also took the UK Christmas number one spot in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, with titles such as I Love Sausage Rolls and Don't Stop Me Eatin'.
Unusual Christmas number one hits
Throughout the late nineties and early 2000's, mainstream pop groups such as the Spice Girls and Westlife dominated the UK charts and the Christmas number one position. Between 2005 and 2008, winners of The X Factor were almost guaranteed the number one spot, until alternative music listeners decided to rebel against the status-quo. In 2009, American rock band Rage Against the Machine took the Christmas number one spot after fans campaigned for a different kind of Christmas hit.
Christmas number one legends
Some songs, most of which not intended to be Christmas songs, find themselves in the official Christmas number one position more than once. Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody appeared in 1975 and again in 1991. Additionally, The Beatles, the Spice Girls, and Ladbaby are three artists who managed to reach the Christmas number one spot for at least three consecutive years.
