Around one-third of consumers in a global 2022 survey described their tree decorating style as maximalist, meaning they covered their tree in lots of decorations. This was the most popular response. Just over one-fifth of respondents fell on the other end of the spectrum, taking a minimalist approach to their tree decoration.
Leading Christmas tree decoration styles among consumers worldwide in 2022
The source defines the options as follows:
Maximalist: lots of lights and decorations
Personal: decorations with a personal connection or inherited
Minimalist: very few decorations
Monochrome: one color
There are more than 1,000 respondents per country. The surveyed countries were U.S., Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Poland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.
