Domestic online orders are less likely to be fraudulent than international orders. A survey of online merchants conducted in late 2022 revealed that roughly three percent of online orders turned out to be fraudulent among mid-market businesses worldwide. On the other hand, small and medium-sized companies experienced 2.5 percent of fraudulent domestic orders and three percent of international purchases.

The study included retailers in North America (41 percent), Europe (25 percent), Asia-Pacific (17 percent), and Latin America (17 percent).
The source breaks down the size of online businesses as follows:
- SMB (50,000 to 5 million U.S. dollars)
- Mid-Market (5 million to 50 million U.S. dollars)
- Enterprise (50 million U.S. dollars or more)
