Since 2017 there has been an overall increase in intimate partner violence in Germany. In 2023, there were 167,865 victims of intimate partner violence in Germany, compared with 138,893 in 2017.

From 2017, the categories "threats, stalking, coercion (psychological violence)” and “deprivation of liberty”, “pimping” and “forced prostitution” were included in the report. The evaluation of intimate partner violence has also included a consideration of "disability (physical/mental)" and "frailty/age/illness/injury".
