In 2020, boys were more likely to be involved in child labor in the Asia-Pacific region than girls, making up a share of over 65 percent of all children aged 5 to 17 years involved in labor in both surveyed subregions.
The number of children in child labour in APAC amounted to approximately 48.7 million in 2020, equivalent to a 5.6 percent share of children in the age group. This marked a decrease from around 113.6 million in 2008.
