According to a survey of app users in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) conducted during the second quarter of 2022, 67 percent of respondents encountered online ads while browsing social media on their smartphones. By comparison, only 37 percent of respondents reported seeing ads on social media while using their laptops or PCs. Over six in 10 respondents reported seeing ads while streaming videos from their smartphones, while 40 percent reported noticing online ads when streaming from laptops. Overall, users engaging with different digital services via smartphones were more likely to see online advertising.
