In comparison, the per capita consumption of the leading mineral that year was sand, gravel, and stone, which amounted to 17,393 pounds.
Cement consumption in the United States has been on an upward trajectory over the past decade, reaching an estimated 120 million metric tons in 2023. Furthermore, cement prices have risen to about 150 U.S. dollars per metric ton during the same year. The production of cement in the country has been on a steady upward trend since 2010 and reached the highest production levels of 93 million metric tons in both 2021 and 2022.
Ready-mix concrete manufacturers dominated the cement market in the United States, accounting for 72.5 percent of the total sales of cement in 2023. The demand for cement is expected to increase as the United States continues to witness a boom in residential and commercial construction projects.
