Global per capita methane emissions 2020, by country
Per capita methane emissions vary greatly among the world's biggest methane-emitting countries. In 2020, methane emissions in the United States averaged 2.26 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent per inhabitant. This was almost three times more than per capita methane emissions in China, which is by far the biggest methane emitter in the world. Meanwhile, Turkmenistan had the highest per capita emissions that year, having surpassed 20 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent.
