With the exception of India, major world economies increased their seaborne crude oil imports from the United States (U.S.) in the first nine months of 2022 year-on-year. Due to the European Union's (EU) policy to lower its dependence on Russian fossil fuel exports, the EU significantly increased its imports of seaborne crude oil from the U.S. in 2022.
