In 2020, the trade value between China and countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) grew to 1.35 trillion U.S. dollars or 9.4 trillion yuan. The largest share of the trade volume was directed towards BRI countries in Asia, accounting for 67.7 percent of the total trade value.
