There is racial disparity when it comes to trusting tap water quality in the United States, according to a 2021 survey. Of those surveyed, less than a quarter of Black Americans and Hispanic Americans were very confident that they can drink tap water without any negative side effects, compared with 43 percent of white Americans. Meanwhile, 35 percent of Black Americans think access to clean water is a major problem in the U.S., compared with 28 percent of white Americans.
Across the United States there are racial disparities in pollution exposure, with Black and Latino Americans far more likely to be exposed to environmental risks than white Americans.
