According to October 2024 company data from Sega Sammy, the Like a Dragon video game series (formerly known as the Yakuza series and is titled Ryu ga Gotoku in Japan) had sold a cumulative 27.70 million units, up from 21.3 million games at previous reporting. In September 2022, the company announced that Yakuza series was officially to undergo a name change, with all future releases now bearing the Like a Dragon title, which is a literal translation of the original Japanese name of the series.
