During the 2022 summer, several cities in Italy reported temperatures 2.5 °C above average. In July, an increase of almost 30 percent in mortality rate was recorded among seniors across Italy. Campobasso, a city in the region of Molise, reported the highest increase in the mortality rate, with 61 percent. This figure shows the percentage change in the mortality rate of people over 65 years because of heat waves in July 2022 in selected Italian cities.
