The Indonesian gaming market has been growing steadily and was valued at approximately 1.92 billion U.S. dollars in 2021. This industry has been hailed as one of the most promising in the country, positioning itself as one of the leaders among its Southeast Asian counterparts.

The Indonesian gaming industry

With the number of gamers exceeding half of the country’s population, Indonesia has become the largest player base in Southeast Asia. A recent study found that the majority of Indonesian gamers chose mobile phones as the primary device to play games. Apart from convenience and affordability, mobile phones in the country are equipped with 5G technology, guaranteeing a pleasant and uninterrupted gaming experience. As of May 2022, gamers in Indonesia were most satisfied with the gaming experience using the 5G network and scored it 82.9 out of 100.

Gaming behaviour

The interest in online gaming among Indonesians is relatively high, with a large portion of gamers playing online games daily. Indonesian gamers spent around one to two hours in one gaming session. A recent study revealed that free-to-play was the most frequently played online game in Indonesia.
