In 2022, a survey conducted in South Africa regarding insurance companies found that OUTsurance had the highest amount of positive mentions. It had over 130 mentions on social media. Assupol ranked second in the number of mentions. However, sentiment towards the insurance provider was skewed towards a negative one. The insurer, Budget, had fewer mentions, yet people had a more positive or neutral stance than Assupol.
Furthermore, the negative sentiment was due to customer service complaints, mainly about poor service and turnaround time. On the other hand, positive views were recorded about these companies offering work opportunities. Competition and collaborations between different insurance brands led to positive sentiment.
Sentiment towards the top insurance brands on social media in South Africa in 2022
TGI/AskAfrika, annually interviews 24,666 respondents, aged 15+ living in urban areas with 8000 or more inhabitants, using a stratified random probability sample. The data is weighted to the South African national statistics service "Statistics South Africa's" population estimates, which allows for an accurate representation of 27.76 million South Africans.
To ensure a nationally representative sample, the survey is based on enumerated area (EA) sampling.
