Thailand imported a total of 59,375 electric vehicles from China between January and September 2022, showing a 176 percent year-on-year increase from 2021. The Thai government has introduced incentives for Chinese electric vehicle imports, including exemptions from import and excise duties, spurring sales. These incentives are to remain in effect until the end of 2023. The strong increase of Chinese EV imports makes Thailand the third largest importer of Chinese electric vehicles behind Belgium and the UK.
