With children spending ever more time interacting with devices through screens, parents are becoming increasingly concerned about this behavior, and are consulting others for parenting advice on this phenomenon. In 2020, 61 percent of those surveyed about the source of parenting advice or information about screen time said that they communicated with doctors or other medical professionals. Moreover, 55 percent of parents spoke to other parents about this issue, while 45 percent spoke to teachers. 40 percent accessed parenting websites or blogs, 38 percent books or magazines, and 28 percent accessed social media sites, while 19 percent said that they looked at online message boards for information.

The source adds the following information: "Parents with more than one child aged 11 or younger were randomly assigned to answer about either their oldest or youngest child in that age range. Parents who mentioned online message board or parenting websites or blogs were from those sampled who are internet users, while parenting websites or blogs were based on social media users."
