Texas and Arizona were by far the U.S. states with most of the residential buildings certified by Energy Star in 2022. Other populous states, such as Florida and New York, had a much lower number of certificates awarded that year. Energy Star is a federal program that labels energy-efficient products, homes, and buildings. This internationally recognized label was developed by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.
