In 2022, more than 7.7 million U.S. dollars worth of snow skis were imported into China, representing an increase of more than 2.24 percent from the previous year. With the help of social media and the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games, skiing is gaining popularity in China. While surveys concluded that most skiers used rented ski gear from ski resorts, the skiers who made purchases of ski gear usually preferred imported products, as they were seen as more advanced and of better quality.
