During an online survey conducted among adults in the United States in November 2021, around 74 percent of female respondents reported eating popcorn almost always or sometimes when they watched a film in a theater. Among men, that share stood at 73 percent. In the U.S. and Canada, an average of over one-third of the revenue of the cinema chains came from selling food and beverage, known in the cinema market as concessions.
