As of August 2022, planned solar PV capacity additions in the United States added up to more than 72 gigawatts. Nevertheless, facilities accounting for less than two percent of capacity had been already completed at the time. Around one-third of capacity was still under construction, while more than 50 percent had approvals either pending or not yet initiated.
