BA-X labor market demand index in Germany 2022-2024

The BA-X labor index tracks the demand for manpower in the labor market. It gathers the data from job openings rather than surveys or other assessments. In September 2024, the BA-X labor index lay at 107, a small increase compared to the previous month. This indicates demand for labor has fallen since the end of 2022.

The BA-X is based on job applications that have been reported to the Bundesagentur für Arbeit (the federal labor agency in Germany). Included are all jobs in the primary labor market that are not directly facilitated or supported by the BA itself, as well as jobs for freelancers, the self-employed, and jobs coming from private employment agencies.
