The demand for energy transition related metals is expected to grow over the next three decades. For instance, demand for lithium is forecast to reach up to three million metric tons by 2030, and up to eight million tons by 2050. Meanwhile, the global demand for zinc is estimated to range between 0.7 and 1.5 metric tons by 2030, and between 1.5 and 2.7 tons by 2050. Some of these metals are used in wind turbines or electric vehicles.
