During the extended Songkran holidays in Thailand between 11th and 15th of April, 2023, around 5.9 thousand traffic violation cases of driving their vehicle under the influence of alcohol were registered. Although the Songkran event is only officially happening between 13th to 15th of April every year, the entire country usually shuts down for the whole week.
