In 2022, the North American country recorded the highest figure in almost two decades. Nonetheless, 2002 still held the long-term record, with eight large wildfire disasters recorded.
According to the source, figures refer to wildfires that killed at least 10 people, affected at least 100 people, led to a state of emergency declaration and/or required a call for international aid.
