In 2022, Germany's final energy consumption of natural gas reached over 50.77 million metric tons of oil equivalent. Natural gas is an important means of generating electricity and heat in the EU and also serves as a feedstock for multiple industrial manufacturing processes. The total natural gas share in final EU energy use stood at 19.7 percent that same year.
