As of September 2023, the New Administrative Capital registered the highest starting price for retail unit sales among the four selected Egyptian cities. That year, the average starting cost for a retail unit reached over 5,920 U.S. dollars per square meter. New Cairo and Sheikh Zayed City followed, with an average starting price of around 5,216 U.S. dollars and 4,211 U.S. dollars per square meter, respectively. Egypt has been building new communities further away from Cairo, in an attempt to relieve the current capital from being overcrowded.
