Most social media users using Twitter recently in South Africa were between 25 and 34. According to a survey conducted in 2021, some 40.5 percent of the social media users who used Twitter yesterday or today were in that age group. Individuals in the age group 35-44 were the second largest group, representing 23.2 percent. As expected, only 0.2 percent were over the age of 65.

The data is weighted to the South African national statistics service "Statistics South Africa's" population estimates, which allows for an accurate representation of 27.76 million South Africans.
To ensure a nationally representative sample, the survey is based on enumerated area (EA) sampling.
The source adds that users included here are social media users who used Twitter's platform yesterday and today (at the time the survey was conducted).
