Since, at least, 2000, the youngest cohort of the urban active population in Mexico has been the age group struggling the most with unavailability of employment for people who are willing to work. The share of urban open unemployment among those aged 15 to 24 years peaked in 2010 at 13.2 percent. In 2022, all groups showed a lower level of unemployment than in 2020.

This indicator considers -by specific period- to the unemployed urban population aged 15 years and over, which includes whose have not worked but have looked for an employment and whose have looked for a work by first time within the urban economically active population aged 15 years and over.
