Gender of internet users intentionally accessing media illegally in Europe 2022

While the majority of young people in the EU do not report intentionally using illegal sources to access media content online, just under a quarter of young people still self-report such behavior. Male internet users make up the larger share of young people intentionally accessing media content illegally, as reported by 23 percent of those responding to the EU-wide Intellectual Property and Youth Scoreboard survey in 2022. Women also report accessing content illegally, though at a share of 19 percent.
