According to a survey conducted in 2021, more South African men accessed the internet using their smartphones than women. That year, almost 51 percent of the users accessing the internet through a smartphone in the country were men, while the remaining 49 percent were women.

The question was: "How do you access the internet?".
The data is weighted to the South African national statistics service, "Statistics South Africa's" population estimates, which allow for an accurate representation of 27.76 million South Africans.
To ensure a nationally representative sample, the survey is based on enumerated area (EA) sampling.
