Gross domestic product (GDP) growth rates are expected to slow in most world regions in 2023. Particularly the euro area and the European Union will be hit by slowing growth rates, falling from more than three percent in 2022 to only 0.7 percent in 2023. These regions have been hit particularly hard by the high inflation rates and electricity prices through 2022 and 2023. On the other hand, the growth rate was forecast to increase from 4.5 to 5.2 percent in emerging and developing Asia.
