Over that period, contemporary art accounted for roughly 16 percent of the total sales value. Meanwhile, ultra-contemporary art - a sub-segment of contemporary art focusing on artists under 40 years old - generated 273.5 million U.S. dollars, representing roughly two percent of all fine art public auction sales.
