From 2015 to 2024, cafés, restaurants, and takeaway services in New Zealand experienced a gradual increase in establishment numbers from approximately 13,070 establishments in 2015 to over 16,780 in 2024. In comparison, pubs, taverns, and bars only experienced minor increases and decreases in numbers over the years, with roughly the same amount of these establishments in 2015 as in 2024. Similarly, the quantity of clubs in New Zealand saw small increases over this time period, with the exception of 2020 and 2024, with establishment numbers peaking in 2022 and 2023 at 519 clubs.
