In 2022, there were 27 flood events recorded in Europe, down from 66 registered a year earlier. In the first nine months of 2023, another 26 events had been reported. As of that year, Serbia and Hungary were among the countries most exposed to floods in Europe, based on risk index score.
Number of reported flood events in Europe from 2016 to 2023
Data was compiled by Statista based on the number of articles reporting a new event published by Floodlist during the indicated period. One flood event per article was assumed. However, figures will not include events not reported by the source. Figures are as of September 25, 2023.
Values have been restated compared to the previous year.
