According to a survey conducted in October 2021 regarding the consequences of COVID-19 on the world of art in Japan during 2020 and 2021, 42.8 percent of artists stated that their revenue from cultural activities declined sharply in 2020 and stayed that way in 2021. Less than five percent of respondents stated that they were unaffected by the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic.
